This blazer I LOVE. It is not too heavy, not too light. It jingles a little bit because of the buttons, but it fits really well.

I didn’t realize how high these shoes were (5.5 inches!) but I love them anyway. I just have to practice walking a little bit.

This is may favorite ever beauty guru on Youtube. She is so cute and sweet and gives great make up advice. I love that she is so cute and really listens to her views. She also has great fashion advice, such as what stores to go to. She’s just, overall, really fun to watch.

My name is Maddie. I live in New York City and have all of my life. I go to an all-girls school and have since kindergarten. Before all of you get too caught up with the fascination of Gossip Girl and NYC Prep, let me tell you something: those people do, in fact, exist in the city. They’re not made up. But everyone has to remember: not everyone is like that. New Yorkers are different than most others elsewhere. We do have similarities though: at school there are cliques (the athletic ones, the smarter ones, the preppy ones, the artsy-chic ones, etc.). But, to put it simply, we’re different. None of us can drive, and a lot of us probably never will. Instead of going to the mall on the weekends, we can go to one of the three Bs: Bloomingdales, Bergdorfs,or Barneys. Instead of house parties, we go to restaurants or bars with our friends…which could later become a get together at someone’s apartment. Not all of us can drop $500 at a single store every week (although I’m sure some people do). Therefore, this will hopefully be a reality check. Not every child that grows up in New York is a snobby little rich kid. This may sound like an angry, hate blog. But, I can promise you it isn’t. It’s people like the ones you see on TV that make our lives so entertaining. That’s why shows like Gossip Girl are so popular. These peoples’ lives are dramatized so much to a point where its addictive to watch. As unrealistic as their lives may seem, you can’t help but want to know if Blair and Chuck Bass will end up together.

I, for one, feel like I have a pretty normal life compared to others. I have an apartment in New York, I have a summer house in the hamptons, and I attend a great school. But I’m not Blair Waldorf…I have a life far less perfect than hers full of designer clothes and an extravagant lifestyle. I’m so grateful for everything I have, there’s not doubt about that. But through this blog, I hope to set the record straight: most people, are far from Blair.

But enough about trying to prove a point. Here’s my life: I love my family. My siblings and I are all really close. My mom and are close, too. My dad, is very crazy and has temper tantrums like the average 5 year old, but I still love him. My friends are great…we have our occasional falling out, but its only a test that we always pass, proving that our relationships are very strong with one another. Speaking of relationships…my love life is ENTIRELY lacking. I had a summer fling this summer. But he lives far away. I thought, though, that it could be love. And then, he decided it was best if we were friends. It was the logical decision, and I expected it. I just wish it didn’t hurt so much. I think about him all the time. (You will be hearing a lot about this, I am sure.) But basically, I have the same worries as most other teenagers in America. Where will I go to college? What will I do with my life? And the biggest question on my mind right now post-summer romance: Does prince charming even exist? And if so, how many times am I going to have to go through heartbreak before finally finding him?

Tell me if you have any requests about what you’re interested in hearing about. But for now, this is just my #1 place to vent my feelings. Wish me luck as I start my junior year. Everyone’s psyching me out about it, especially my parents. But for now, I’m just absorbing the last few days of summer I’ve got.
